What Is Percent Change?
Percent change measures the relative difference between two values, expressed as a percentage of the original value. It is positive for increases and negative for decreases.
How to Calculate Percent Change
Formula: Change (%) = [(New − Old) ÷ Old] × 100
Increase example: From 80 to 100 → [(100−80)÷80]×100 = +25%
Decrease example: From 100 to 75 → [(75−100)÷100]×100 = −25%

What is the difference between percent change and percentage points?
If a rate goes from 5% to 10%, the percent change is +100% but the difference in percentage points is +5 pp. These are different concepts.
Can percent change exceed 100%?
Yes. If a value doubles, the percent change is +100%. If it triples, it is +200%.
